Board Nominations

The election for open positions on the Central Florida Chapter Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC CF) Board of Directors is in September. The ABC CF Nominating Committee accepting applications for the next year's board through the end of the day on July 31 each year.

who is eligible & when to apply?

Unlike other construction associations, all members of ABC -- general contractor, subcontractor, supplier, or professional associate -- are eligible to hold office in CF ABC. The Nominating Committee will review the applications received, conduct interviews, and present a qualified list to the Board of Directors for its approval at the August Board meeting.

The official ballot will be distributed via email to membership following that meeting and voting must be completed by the end of September. The primary contact from each member firm in good standing will receive one ballot.

what's expected of a director?

During a term of office (up to three years) that begins January 1, a director of ABC  CF must make a commitment to the association to actively participate through leadership and by example. ABC is a membership driven organization. From committees to member services, from legislative affairs to member receptions, all ABC directors are expected to initiate new ideas and participate in the decisions.

The responsibilities are listed in the application and will include but are not limited to board meeting attendance, financial support, membership recruitment and retention, participation in Chapter, State and National programs.

Members of the Board of Directors must have a higher level of commitment to the association. This will result in spending your time and resources in support of meetings, communications, and industry representation. Those Board members with a personal knowledge and belief in purpose and mission of ABC are much more likely to succeed in their leadership.

Members of the Board of Directors are often called upon to represent ABC to other members, to speak to the value and services provided by the association. Many of the services and functions of the association are guided and developed by committees.
To be considered for next year's board, complete the application below by the end of July. The Nominating Committee will review all applications in July and August and notify you if you are selected for an interview.
