Who is a Young Professional?

A young professional is anyone employed by an ABC member company in good standing who is under the age of 40.

Young Professionals Program

Central Florida Chapter ABC established the Young Professionals program to develop the next generation of ABC leaders and encourage networking among the “best and brightest” up-and-comers in construction. The program creates opportunities for young leaders to build relationships, expand their skills and advance their careers while continuing to promote open competition and the merit shop philosophy. Each year the Young Professionals Committee plans meetings, events, education programs, and other special programs for the Young Professionals Group to engage the younger generation within the industry.

Young Professional of the Year Award

This award is presented to an individual under the age of 40 who is dedicated to the merit shop and is a top performer in his or her field based on career achievement, leadership, and vision for the future of the commercial and industrial construction industry.

Process

  • All nominations will be reviewed by an expert YPOY judging panel comprised of ABC Board members and/or members of the Executive Leaders Peer Group
  • To move on as a finalist, at minimum, the nominee must meet each of the eligibility requirements stated above. Nominations will be judged equally on all categories and how well the nominee identifies with each category.
  • The first round of judging will be anonymous, followed by an in-person interview.
  • Finalists will be shortlisted for in-person interviews with the YPOY Judging Panel. Notification will be sent via e-mail to the nominator following the close of nominations.
  • All finalists will be recognized at the ABC CF Excellence in Construction Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Hilton Orlando.
  • The 2024 winner will be announced live at the EIC Awards ceremony.
