Shawn Straight started his career as a graphic designer in 1993 and, after a brief stint in Chicago, moved to Orlando. After gaining experience in different areas of marketing and design, he opened his company, StraightEdge Creative, in 2001 and pursued a successful career as a freelance designer/marketeer. Shawn has worked within the construction industry as a partner to the Central Florida Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors for over 18 years and produces the Excellence in Construction Awards program. He is the first FAA part 107 certified Drone Pilot in Central Florida. He took over as the Director of Communications for H. J. High Construction in 2018 and has actively integrated his drone expertise into the marketing and construction efforts for the company.

Matt Abeles VP Construction Tech and Innovation, ABC National

Matthew Abeles is the Vice President of Construction Technology and Innovation for Associated Builders and Contractors. In this role, Abeles spearheads efforts to integrate construction technology and innovation into all aspects of ABC’s strategic initiatives, included but not limited to total human health, world-class safety and workforce development. Abeles, who has advised and raised capital for many construction technology companies, is a recognized leader in the field. In 2014, he co-founded BuiltWorlds, a media company and digital network for construction, real estate, finance and development leaders, which hosts global events and produces industry research. In this role, he was responsible for outreach to established and emerging players in the construction and real estate sectors developing next-generation technologies.
