The committees for Central Florida ABC facilitate the realization of the goals articulated in the strategic plan of the association. Committees are essential to the success of ABC.
Committees are populated by member volunteers. All members are welcome to participate on one of the association’s committees, although some have restrictions. Committee members must be employed by a dues-paying member company of Central Florida ABC. The advantages of volunteering include the opportunity to broaden professional relationships, gain expertise, and improve leadership skills, thereby benefiting your employer as well as your own professional development.

ABC/UCF Student Chapter
Support and mentor the UCF Student Chapter members, assist in recruiting speakers for student meetings, help prepare for National ABC Competition, and assist with annual fund raisers. The UCF Student Chapter is comprised of current students who have an interest in the commercial construction industry.
EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION Awards (EIC)
Plan and organize the annual Excellence in Construction Awards program. This committee is open to contractor members only.
Charged with ensuring the association supports cause-related initiatives that are strategically aligned with the organization’s mission, vision and legislative priorities. Plan and participate in the decisions concerning legislation affecting the construction industry. Follow the different bills, talk with legislators as needed, participate in candidate interviews, and attend the annual LegCon in Tallahassee.
Develop innovative ways to attract new members as well as retain current members. Committee members call new members, invite new members to attend events and introduce newcomers to others at events.
Plan and organize the annual motorcycle Poker Run. This includes obtaining sponsorships and company participation.
Develops relationships with owners, developers, and construction users in the Central Florida community to create connections and promote ABC members through the production of member events.
Plan and organize the annual safety programs, the Construction Safety Professionals Group meetings, and encourage member companies to participate in the STEP program.
Feeling creative? Assist ABC staff in planning special events, such as the annual Construction Expo, Chili Cook-off, Sporting Clay Shoot, Fishing Tournament, Golf Tournaments, and others. Have fun while using your imagination and exploring your inventive side.
Plan, development, produce and/or support workforce education programs to include pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, safety and craft training, skills upgrades, professional development, and management training. Develop programs aimed at promoting careers in the construction industry.
Create opportunities for members of the Chapter to build relationships, expand their skills and advance their careers while continuing to promote open competition and the merit shop philosophy.
Ambassador for Membership
Meet and greet new members and prospective members at ABC events. Reach out and welcome new members to the association.
Volunteer at ABC Events
Assist with various duties at ABC events including but not limited to set up, tear down, registration, prep work.
Construction Safety Professionals Group
Quarterly meetings with guest speakers and peer group discussions focused on current safety topics.
Young Professionals Group
Young Professional activities focused on engaging individuals under 40 within the industry. Activities might be after hour events, education programs, jobsite tours, charity fundraising efforts, and other special programs.
