Learning Objectives: The course objective is to develop skills in estimating the quantities, resources, and construction management concepts required in construction projects. Students will learn various construction techniques and methods to understand how projects are estimated and built.
This 2-day a week, 4-week course will cover the following :
- Introduction to Construction Estimating
- Estimating in MasterFormat and UniFormat II
- Estimating Fundamentals and Common Tools
- Concrete, Masonry, Metal, and Wood Quantity Takeoff
- Specialties, MEP, Earthwork, and Utility Quantity Takeoff
- Unit Rates, History Cost Data, and RSMeans Data
- Overhead, Profit, Markup, and Subcontractor Pricing
- Bid Submission, Winning Proposals, and Project Buyout
*course requirements: Microsoft Excel
It is encouraged to bring your laptop to class, but not required.

Learning Objectives: The course objective is to develop advanced skills in estimating various construction projects. Students will learn different construction estimating methods and practice advanced estimating skills using real-world example projects.
This 2-day a week, 4-week course will cover the following :
- Overview of the Construction Estimate Lifecycle
- Labor, Equipment, Materials, and Subcontracts
- Indirect Costs, Contingency, and Various Adjustments
- Commercial Estimate Example and Problem Part I
- Commercial Estimate Example and Problem Part II
- Heavy Civil Estimate Example and Problem Part I
- Heavy Civil Estimate Example and Problem Part II
- Experts Recommendations and Best Practices
