CPR/First Aid

For the past 10 years, Jef Walker has been on the board of Alliance for Central Florida Safety
(ACFS) and has been a participant in many annual Safety Day events.

He reluctantly became an EMT in 1972 when the hospital in his town was told by the local
funeral homes that they were no longer going to provide ambulance service because a new
state law made it too costly for them to continue to provide free ambulance service.

As a medic, he learned quickly that when bystanders are just standing around watching a
tragedy unfold, emergency crews often have very little to work with when they arrive and what
a terrible feeling that is for them.

He’s been called Mr. CPR, as he’s been an American Heart Association instructor for over 50
years and has taught many 1,000s of nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals
resuscitation skills.

But what he is most passionate about is preparing you and other everyday citizens to save the
lives of the ones they love, their friends and neighbors from the leading killer of all: Sudden
Cardiac Arrest.

He’s currently president of the CPR+AED Foundation, providing CPR & AEDs throughout our
communities. He has also taught at the Police & Fire Academies in Orange & Osceola
Counties, been regional EMS director & participated in the implementation of the 911 systems
in Central Florida & in Atlanta, GA, as well as PulsePoint in Orange & Seminole Counties. He
also currently assists with Stop The Bleed classes through our Level I & Level II Trauma
Centers & works with SafeKids.
